Laminated Safety Glass

Laminated safety glass is composed of several elements. A minimum of two glass layers are joined by a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sheet. The sheet may be transparent, translucent, coloured or UV protective. PVB sheeting is noted for its resistance to tearing and its toughness.

In case of damage to laminated safety glass, the glazed area generally remains whole even if the glass itself breaks. The fragments adhere to the PVB interlayer. This reduces the risk of injury and maintains the protective properties of the glass.
